The Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta has taken disciplinary action against two revenue officials from Kurnool district after finding them guilty of bribery and the illegal issuance of house site pattas.
According to a statement released by the Lokayukta office on Friday, the case originated from a complaint filed in 2021 by V Muralidhar Reddy (File No. 795/2021/B1). The complaint alleged that former Kallur mandal tahsildar T Anjana Devi and former Village Revenue Officer (VRO) of Lakshmipuram village, KL Varaprasad Rao, accepted a bribe of `4,00,000 to issue fraudulent house site pattas to certain beneficiaries in Dupadu village, Survey No. 25/4B.
Upa Lokayukta P Rajani conducted an inquiry into the allegations and directed the Andhra Pradesh Chief Commissioner of Land Administration and the Kurnool Joint Collector to carry out further investigation. Based on the findings, disciplinary measures were imposed: T Anjana Devi received a one-year pay grade reduction without affecting her pension, while KL Varaprasad Rao was penalised with the stoppage of two annual increments.
With these actions implemented, the Lokayukta officially closed the complaint and reiterated its commitment to addressing public grievances, ensuring accountability, and promoting transparency in governance.
