The Nellore district administration released the third phase of land acquisition compensation worth Rs 29.57 crore for farmers in Karedu village of Ulavapadu mandal. The amount was credited into the bank accounts of 38 farmers for 136.62 acres of land.
With this instalment, a total of Rs 62.38 crore has been disbursed to 139 farmers for 293.4 acres.
The State government is acquiring land in Karedu for industrial development. Initially, farmers raised concerns. However, the Collector personally interacted with them, after which 635 farmers voluntarily submitted consent letters for about 1,265 acres.
To ensure transparency, compensation of Rs 20 lakh per acre, with additional benefits for horticulture land, is being credited directly into bank accounts. Officials said payments to all farmers who submitted consent forms will be completed soon.
A special land acquisition office has been set up at Ulavapadu mandal headquarters to speed up the process and assist farmers.
