Just hours before the highly anticipated release of Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG, the film has hit an unexpected roadblock. The Telangana High Court on Tuesday struck down the State government’s earlier approval that allowed producers to increase ticket rates for special benefit shows and the initial days of regular screenings in Hyderabad.
The State government had recently permitted the OG makers to charge as much as ₹800 for benefit shows scheduled for September 24. The same order also sanctioned revised ticket prices for regular screenings between September 25 and October 4—capping single-screen tickets at ₹277 and multiplex tickets at ₹445. With the court order now in place, those enhanced rates stand cancelled.
The setback leaves uncertainty over the OG benefit shows that were planned for Tuesday night in Hyderabad. However, in Andhra Pradesh, benefit shows are scheduled to go ahead as planned, beginning at 10 pm.
