Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how Indians search for jobs. A new report by professional networking platform LinkedIn says more than 90 percent of professionals in India plan to use AI tools for job hunting in 2026. This trend highlights a major shift in career planning and recruitment practices across the country.
AI boosts confidence but raises concerns
The report shows that AI has become a confidence booster for job seekers. About 66 percent of candidates said AI tools helped them perform better in interviews. These tools assist with resume writing, interview preparation, and skill assessment.
However, the data also reveals growing anxiety. While 72 percent of professionals are actively looking for new jobs, 84 percent admitted they do not feel ready to switch roles. Rapid changes in required skills, intense competition, and AI-driven hiring systems have increased uncertainty.
Hiring process feels longer and impersonal
Many candidates expressed frustration with recruitment methods. Around 77 percent feel the hiring process has become too lengthy. Meanwhile, 66 percent believe it has lost its personal touch. As automation increases, candidates struggle to understand how employers evaluate skills and make decisions.
Experts highlight AI’s growing role
Reacting to the findings, Neerajita Banerjee, Senior Managing Editor at LinkedIn India News, said AI now plays a central role in career building. She explained that AI tools help candidates understand their strengths and connect skills with real opportunities. According to her, AI can reduce confusion in complex hiring processes.
Competition intensifies in the job market
LinkedIn data shows that competition has increased sharply. The number of applicants per job has doubled since early 2022. At the same time, 74 percent of recruiters said they find it harder to identify qualified candidates compared to last year.
Demand rises for AI-driven roles
The report predicts strong growth in technology-focused careers. Roles such as prompt engineer, AI engineer, and software engineer are expected to see the fastest hiring growth. This shift reflects India’s increasing focus on artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the workforce.
