AP Bar Council Approves ₹5.60 Crore Welfare Aid for Lawyers

The Andhra Pradesh Bar Council Lawyers’ Welfare Committee has approved financial assistance worth over ₹5.60 crore for advocates across the state. The aid covers posthumous benefits, medical expenses, and retirement support for eligible lawyers and their families.

The committee reviewed all pending welfare applications during a recent meeting and approved them without delay. Representatives from the High Court and the AP Law Department attended the meeting. AP Bar Council Chairman Nallari Dwarakanatha Reddy, along with members Muppalla Subba Rao and P. Narasinga Rao, also participated.

Under posthumous benefits, the committee sanctioned ₹3.51 crore to the families of 54 deceased advocates. In addition, it approved ₹1.90 crore as medical aid for 137 lawyers undergoing treatment for serious health conditions. The committee also granted ₹19.20 lakh as retirement benefits to seven senior advocates.

In total, the approved welfare amount stands at ₹5,60,80,000. Officials confirmed that authorities will transfer the funds directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts to ensure transparency and timely delivery.

The committee stated that the financial assistance will reduce economic stress among lawyers and support their families during difficult periods. Many advocates welcomed the decision and praised the Bar Council for strengthening welfare measures.

The AP Bar Council reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lawyers’ interests and promised continued priority for welfare-related initiatives.
