AP Cabinet Meeting: New Districts, Amaravati Projects Approved

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet met today at 11 am at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The meeting focused on major decisions related to administrative reforms, Amaravati development, and public infrastructure.

Three New Districts Approved

Most importantly, the Cabinet approved the creation of three new districts to improve administrative efficiency and deliver services faster. The new district headquarters will be located at Markapuram and Rampachodavaram, while Madanapalle will continue as the headquarters of the Annamayya district.

As a result, the total number of districts in Andhra Pradesh will now stand at 28. The government clarified that it took this decision to bring administration closer to the people and improve monitoring by officials.

Major Push for Amaravati Development

Meanwhile, the Cabinet gave approval for several key projects in the capital region. Notably, it cleared the establishment of a state-of-the-art research centre on two acres at the Quantum Computing Centre. The project will be developed at a cost of Rs. 103.96 crore.

In addition, the Cabinet approved Rs. 109 crore to upgrade residential buildings of All India Service officers near the Secretariat. It also permitted the allocation of 23 acres of land in Shakhamuru village for buildings under the Union Ministry of AYUSH.

Infrastructure and Flood Protection Projects

To boost investment and tourism, the Cabinet approved the allocation of six acres in the Tullur area for hotels and convention centres. Furthermore, it cleared the construction of a flood pumping station with a capacity of 8,400 cusecs at a cost of Rs. 444 crore to protect Amaravati during the monsoon.

Under the Amaravati Master Plan, the Cabinet also approved Rs. 1,358 crore for layout development and infrastructure creation in LPS Zone-8.

Political Review After Meeting

Apart from policy decisions, the Cabinet discussed land allocations to institutions, the Rushikonda buildings issue, medical college tenders, and the PPP policy. After the meeting, CM Chandrababu Naidu is expected to hold a special discussion on the latest political developments in the state.
