DGCA Issues Show-Cause Notice to IndiGo CEO Over Major Flight Disruptions

DGCA Issues Notice to IndiGo CEO

New Delhi: India’s aviation regulator, the DGCA, sent a show-cause notice to the CEO of IndiGo Airlines after a series of major flight disruptions. These disruptions caused long delays, cancellations, and heavy trouble for passengers across the country.

The DGCA said IndiGo did not make the needed plans for the new Flight Duty Time Limits (FDTL). This poor planning led to staff shortages and confusion in daily flight operations. The regulator also said the airline failed to follow key rules under the Aircraft Act and Civil Aviation Requirements.

Officials noted that the airline did not give clear updates or basic support to passengers. Many people faced denied boarding and unexpected delays. The DGCA said these issues show weak control and poor management at the top level of the airline.

The notice directly holds the IndiGo CEO responsible. The regulator said the CEO must ensure smooth operations and proper passenger care, but the airline failed to meet these duties.

The DGCA asked the CEO to reply within 24 hours. The notice also warns that if IndiGo does not respond in time, the regulator will make a decision without further input from the airline.

The notice was issued with the approval of the competent authority.
