IndiGo Airlines will launch a new direct flight service between Vijayawada and Singapore on November 15, marking a major step in enhancing Andhra Pradesh’s global air connectivity. The initiative, driven by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, fulfills a long-standing demand of local residents, students, and business travelers.
Flight schedule and key details
The new IndiGo service will operate three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — connecting Vijayawada International Airport directly to Singapore’s Changi Airport. The new route will create fresh opportunities in education, trade, tourism, and employment for residents of Vijayawada, Guntur, and the Godavari regions.
Promise fulfilled in 100 days
Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu revealed that the flight proposal was first discussed during Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Singapore on July 28, where he promised the Telugu diaspora improved global connectivity. By keeping that commitment, the authorities realized the new service within 100 days.
“The role of Non-Resident Andhras (NRAs) will be crucial in realising the Swarnandhra 2047 vision,” the Union Minister said. He highlighted plans to expand international connectivity further to meet the growing travel demand from the State’s youth, professionals, and entrepreneurs.
The new air link is expected to act as a gateway for economic growth. Local representatives, industrialists, and student communities have welcomed the move, calling it a “milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s aviation journey.”
The service will not only make overseas travel easier but also strengthen Vijayawada’s position as a key hub for international business and higher education.
