A devastating fire accident claimed the lives of 16 people at a nursing home in Indonesia’s Sulawesi island, local authorities confirmed on Monday. The incident also left three others injured.
Fire Breaks Out During Night
According to officials, the fire broke out on Sunday night while elderly residents were resting in their rooms. Firefighters received an alert and rushed to the spot immediately. However, by the time rescue teams reached the building, several residents had already lost their lives.
Elderly Burnt Alive While Resting
Authorities said most of the victims were elderly people who could not escape in time. Tragically, they were burnt alive inside their rooms. Meanwhile, rescue teams managed to save 12 residents and shifted them to nearby hospitals for treatment.
