Congress Party Expels the MLA

In the wake of the rape allegations and mounting legal cases, the Congress party expelled Rahul Mamkootathil from its ranks. Party leaders had earlier suspended him, but later took stricter action following public outrage and ongoing investigations.

Complaint Sent to CMO Triggers Action

According to senior officials, the victim sent her complaint via email to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The CMO forwarded the complaint to the Crime Branch, which initiated an inquiry. Based on the findings of the preliminary investigation, police registered a fresh case and proceeded with the arrest.

Serious Allegations Made by the Victim

In her complaint, the woman alleged that Rahul Mamkootathil sexually assaulted her and forced her to undergo an abortion against her will. She also accused him of physical and mental abuse, along with financial cheating. Officials described the allegations as grave and said they required custodial interrogation.

Arrest in Pathanamthitta, Court Production Next

Crime Branch officials confirmed that they arrested the MLA in Pathanamthitta district. After completing initial questioning, police plan to produce him before the Thiruvalla court. Authorities are expected to seek his custody for further investigation.

The case has triggered strong political reactions in Kerala, while investigators continue to examine evidence related to the latest complaint.
