Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched and laid foundation stones for development projects worth ₹17,500 crore in the northeastern states of Manipur and Mizoram, emphasising peace and regional progress.

In Manipur, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹7,300 crore in Churachandpur and inaugurated initiatives worth more than ₹1,200 crore in Imphal.

Addressing a gathering in Churachandpur, Modi reaffirmed the NDA government’s commitment to making Manipur a symbol of peace, prosperity, and progress. He acknowledged the unfortunate violence that had affected the state but expressed confidence in the emergence of a new dawn of hope and trust.

The Prime Minister shared that he met with displaced individuals residing in camps during his visit. He emphasised that peace is a prerequisite for development and noted that many long-standing conflicts in the Northeast have been resolved over the past eleven years.

“The people of the region have chosen the path of peace and prioritised development,” he said, expressing satisfaction with the recent dialogues held with various groups from both the hills and valley regions. These efforts, he said, reflect the Union government’s approach—centred on dialogue, respect, and mutual understanding—to establish lasting peace. He appealed to all organisations to continue on the path of peace and work toward fulfilling their aspirations.

Speaking in Imphal, the Prime Minister stated that helping those affected by violence return to normal life is a top priority. He reiterated the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure peace and stability in Manipur, stressing the importance of safeguarding the interests of the people and enabling displaced individuals to resume their lives. He described Manipur as a land of limitless possibilities and called upon everyone to remain committed to the path of development.

Asserting that India is poised to become the world’s third-largest economy, Modi emphasised the NDA government’s resolve to ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of the country, including the remotest parts of the Northeast.

From the soil of Manipur, the Prime Minister also addressed the people of Nepal, congratulating Sushila Karki on assuming office as the Prime Minister of Nepal’s interim government. Karki, formerly Chief Justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court, took office following anti-corruption protests that led to the ousting of the KP Sharma Oli government.

Modi expressed confidence that Karki would lead Nepal toward peace, stability, and prosperity. He described Nepal as a close friend and trusted partner of India, bound by shared history, faith, and a collective journey forward. He praised the citizens of Nepal for upholding democratic values amid instability and noted the recent grassroots efforts by young people who have been cleaning and painting streets with dedication and pride. He called their actions inspiring and a clear sign of Nepal’s resurgence, extending his best wishes for the country’s bright future.
