Heated scenes continued in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council as the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) pressed for a debate on alleged links between Heritage Foods and Indapur Dairy. For the third consecutive day, the issue disrupted proceedings. However, the government refused to allow a discussion, leading to sharp exchanges between ruling and opposition members.
YSRCP Moves Adjournment Motion
On Friday, YSRCP members submitted an adjournment motion seeking a dedicated debate on the alleged relationship between Heritage and Indapur Dairy. The party insisted that the matter deserved transparency and a full discussion in the House.
Moreover, YSRCP leaders warned that they would continue their protest if the government declined to take up the issue. They argued that public interest required clarity on the alleged connections.
Government Refuses Discussion
Despite repeated demands, the government did not agree to a debate. As a result, tensions escalated inside the Council. Treasury benches maintained that the allegations lacked basis and accused the opposition of politicising the matter.
Meanwhile, members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) strongly criticised the YSRCP’s claims. They alleged that the opposition was attempting to tarnish the reputation of Heritage Foods without evidence.
TDP Demands Proof, Legal Notices Issued
TDP leaders challenged YSRCP to present concrete proof linking Heritage Foods with Indapur Dairy. They emphasised that unverified accusations could damage the company’s credibility.
In fact, Heritage Foods has already issued legal notices to senior YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana over the allegations. TDP leaders stated that legal action would continue if the accusations persisted.
Protests Outside the Assembly
At the same time, YSRCP leaders staged a protest outside the Assembly premises. They displayed images of Lord Venkateswara and demanded a discussion on the alleged Heritage–Indapur links.
Botsa Satyanarayana accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of making remarks against the sacred Tirumala laddu prasadam. Furthermore, YSRCP leaders called for a detailed debate on the state budget introduced by the coalition government.
As the standoff continues, political tensions remain high. Both sides appear firm in their positions, making further disruptions in the Council likely in the coming days.
