Tension gripped the busy stretch between Vijayawada Varadhi Junction and Guntur after a car fitted with a police siren created chaos in peak traffic. The vehicle, allegedly driven by unidentified persons, used a loud siren to push through vehicles and tried to escape when motorists questioned its authenticity. The incident raised serious concerns over the misuse of police sirens and blinkers in the city, especially as authorities continue to fine common citizens for minor violations.
According to eyewitnesses, the car sped from the Vijayawada Varadhi Junction towards Guntur while blaring a police siren. As traffic congestion increased on the bridge, several motorists grew suspicious and attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver reportedly drove recklessly and tried to hit vehicles that blocked its path. The situation turned tense as commuters feared a possible security threat.
Meanwhile, alert locals managed to corner the vehicle near the Tadepalli Police Outpost. When questioned, the driver allegedly behaved arrogantly. The car displayed a High Court sticker on the windshield, which further confused the public. However, when people asked why the siren was being used, the driver failed to provide a clear explanation. Instead, he reportedly fled the scene before police could take control.
The episode has triggered public outrage. Many residents questioned how unauthorised vehicles continue to misuse police sirens and blinker lights across the city without facing consequences. Citizens pointed out that traffic police strictly enforce helmet rules and impose fines on common people. Yet, they appear to ignore serious violations such as illegal siren usage.
Moreover, locals claim that misuse of police sirens has become common in Vijayawada. Several private vehicles reportedly roam freely with blinkers and sirens, creating confusion and panic on busy roads. Despite repeated complaints, no official cases have been registered so far against such offenders.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for strict monitoring and immediate action against unauthorised use of police insignia and emergency signals. Residents are now demanding accountability and stronger enforcement to prevent misuse in the future.
