Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled a bold plan to transform Amaravati into India’s Quantum Valley, comparable to the United States’ Silicon Valley. The state will implement the ambitious AP State Quantum Mission with an investment of ₹4,000 crore in two phases.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced that the government will conduct a Quantum Mission workshop in Vijayawada on the 30th of this month. The workshop will bring together representatives from IT, pharma, agro, and health universities, colleges, startups, and innovation firms. He said the event will help shape a strong roadmap for the mission.
Clear Vision for Amaravati
CM Chandrababu Naidu stressed that Amaravati must earn global recognition as a Quantum Valley. Moreover, he said the proposed Quantum Valley Tower should become an iconic structure, similar to Hyderabad’s Hitec City building. To strengthen execution, the government will appoint a dedicated Mission Director.
At the same time, the Chief Minister sought expert feedback on building a sustainable Quantum Valley ecosystem. He reviewed the mission’s progress with IT sector specialists at the Secretariat.
Two-Phase Implementation Plan
The Chief Minister said the government aims to complete the first phase by 2027. Subsequently, the second phase will conclude by 2030.
In the first phase, the state will focus on infrastructure, education, research, and pilot projects. In contrast, the second phase will prioritise global leadership, commercialization, and export growth.
Additionally, CM Chandrababu Naidu noted that Andhra Pradesh has taken the lead as a pilot state for quantum-based public infrastructure. He confirmed that IBM will spearhead the Quantum Mission.
Focus Areas and Governance
Officials explained that the mission will position Andhra Pradesh as a Quantum Innovation Hub. Furthermore, it will strengthen the knowledge economy and align with the National Quantum Mission. The state will focus mainly on quantum computing, communication, sensing and metrology, and materials and device development.
To ensure close monitoring, the Chief Minister announced a high-level committee under his leadership. The panel will include the IT Minister, Chief Secretary, IT and Finance Secretaries, the Mission Director, and domain experts.
Therefore, with a clear vision and structured planning, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to place Amaravati at the forefront of India’s next major technology revolution.
