Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced a major New Year initiative for tribal women in Andhra Pradesh’s Manyam region. The government will build a modern blood bank at the Government Hospital in Araku to tackle anemia and pregnancy-related health risks.
Issue Highlighted During Adavitalli Bata Visit
Pawan Kalyan learned about the problem during his Adavitalli Bata visit to Kuridi village in April 2025. During his interaction with tribal residents, a woman spoke about the severe impact of anemia on women’s health.
She explained that sickle cell anemia, a genetic blood disorder, poses a serious threat to pregnant tribal women. The condition often leads to miscarriages and other complications.
Medical Experts Recommend Blood Transfusions
After the visit, Pawan Kalyan consulted medical experts. Doctors confirmed that regular blood transfusions can control the severity of sickle cell anemia. Based on this advice, the government decided to set up a dedicated blood bank in Araku.
Construction to Begin as New Year Initiative
Pawan Kalyan announced that construction would begin as a New Year gift to tribal communities. The blood bank will include modern storage and safety facilities. He also said that he and several donors would fund the project.
The building will connect directly to the Government Hospital in Araku. This will ensure quick access for patients in need.
Major Relief for Tribal Communities
The new facility will support around 1,500 sickle cell anemia patients across the Alluri Sitarama Raju district. Officials believe the project will improve maternal health and reduce preventable deaths.
The initiative marks an important step toward strengthening healthcare services in tribal areas.
