Police have uncovered shocking details in the murder of retired Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Yogesh (58) in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Investigators confirmed that Yogesh’s own sons plotted his murder after he repeatedly asked them to vacate the family house.
The incident occurred on December 26 in Ashok Vihar Colony, Loni area. Yogesh was returning home when two assailants on a motorcycle shot him dead at close range. The murder triggered widespread outrage due to the family involvement revealed later.
According to police officials, Yogesh had been urging his sons to move out of the house for some time. The dispute reportedly escalated over property-related issues. Unwilling to leave the house and eyeing the property, the sons allegedly decided to eliminate their father.
To execute the plan, the sons reportedly gave supari (contract killing money) to their neighbor Arvind (32). Arvind carried out the murder with the help of his brother-in-law Naveen, a police constable posted in Kaushambi district, officials revealed.
Police arrested Arvind on Wednesday evening and recovered a pistol and live cartridges from his possession. During interrogation, Arvind confessed to shooting Yogesh. A Ghaziabad court later remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Yogesh’s two sons and constable Naveen are absconding. Special police teams have launched a manhunt across multiple locations to trace and arrest them. Senior officials said strict action will be taken, especially as a police personnel is allegedly involved in the crime.
The case has raised serious concerns over property disputes within families and the misuse of authority by law enforcement personnel. Police stated that further arrests are expected soon.
