The health of US President Donald Trump has once again drawn public attention. At 79, Trump is the second-oldest person to serve as President of the United States. Recently, blue marks and bruises on his hands triggered fresh speculation about his health.
Trump Breaks Silence on Health Concerns
Addressing the issue, Trump dismissed claims of illness. He said he remains “completely healthy” and fit to serve. According to him, the marks on his hands are not a medical problem. Instead, he blamed them on daily aspirin intake, which he takes to thin his blood.
Trump also rejected reports suggesting he fell asleep during public meetings. He clarified that closing his eyes briefly helps him relax. “I don’t sleep much,” he said. “Sometimes they take photos when I blink and create confusion.”
Aspirin, Not Illness: Trump’s Explanation
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump expressed frustration over repeated questions about his health. He explained that aspirin can cause bruising, especially at his age. Moreover, he said he sometimes covers the marks with makeup or a bandage.
Trump even joked that one bruise appeared after a high-five with Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Medical Tests and Official Clarification
In recent months, reports also mentioned swollen ankles and imaging tests. Trump clarified that he underwent a CT scan, not an MRI, during his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last October.
Last month, Trump’s personal physician, Navy Captain Sean Barbadella, released a health update. He confirmed that Trump underwent routine imaging tests as a preventive measure. Importantly, the doctor stated that the tests showed no heart disease or serious health issues.
Trump Pushes Back at Comparisons
The renewed debate has revived memories of Trump’s past criticism of former President Joe Biden, whom he often mocked as “Sleepy Joe.” Now, Trump insists that media speculation about his own health is exaggerated and misleading.
