A shocking incident linked to a property dispute occurred in Govindapur village of Hosakota taluka in Bengaluru Rural district on Tuesday night. In this incident, a man suffered severe burn injuries while trying to set his elder brother’s house on fire.
Property Dispute Triggers Violent Act
According to police officials, Muniraj, the accused, has operated a local chit fund business for the past eight years. However, after suffering heavy financial losses, he fell into deep debt. As investor pressure increased, Muniraj repeatedly demanded that his elder brother Ramakrishna sell their ancestral land to clear the dues.
Despite these demands, Ramakrishna refused. Consequently, tensions between the brothers escalated rapidly.
Midnight Attack Ends in Tragedy
In a fit of anger, Muniraj decided to take revenge. Late on Tuesday night, he went to Ramakrishna’s house with a dangerous plan. First, he locked the house from the outside. Next, he poured petrol around the premises and set it ablaze.
However, the plan backfired immediately. Petrol spilled on Muniraj’s hands and clothes, and within moments, flames engulfed him. As a result, he suffered serious burn injuries.
Neighbours Act Swiftly
Hearing Muniraj’s cries, neighbours rushed to the spot without delay. They quickly doused the fire and informed emergency services. Soon after, they shifted Muniraj to the Hosakota Government Hospital, where doctors are providing treatment.
Meanwhile, Ramakrishna and his family members remained safe and escaped without injuries.
CCTV Footage Strengthens Probe
Importantly, CCTV cameras at Ramakrishna’s house captured the entire incident. The police have seized the footage and begun a detailed investigation. Based on the evidence, officials said they will take strict legal action.
Ultimately, the incident highlights how financial stress and property disputes can spiral into dangerous and life-threatening acts.
