The cold wave has intensified across Telangana, causing a sharp drop in temperatures and leaving people shivering, especially during early morning and night hours. Several districts have recorded single-digit minimum temperatures, highlighting the severity of the winter spell. The Meteorological Department has also issued a cold warning, stating that the chill will persist for at least the next three days.
Single-Digit Temperatures Raise Concern
According to official data recorded from Friday night to Saturday morning, Bhimpur in Adilabad district reported the lowest temperature in the state at just 7 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Kohir in Sangareddy district recorded 7.9 degrees Celsius. These readings underline how harsh the cold conditions have become in northern and central Telangana.
Moreover, temperatures have fallen below 10 degrees Celsius in at least 12 districts, creating discomfort for residents. People in rural and semi-urban areas are feeling the impact more intensely due to limited protection against cold winds.
Meteorological Reasons Behind the Cold Spell
Meteorological Department officials explained that low-altitude winds blowing from the east and southeast directions have intensified the cold conditions across the state. As a result, night temperatures have dropped sharply, while mornings remain unusually cold.
Furthermore, weather experts predict that minimum temperatures will continue to hover between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius in most parts of Telangana over the next few days. In northern districts, however, temperatures may dip even further during nighttime.
Advisory Issued for the Next Three Days
In view of the prevailing conditions, the Meteorological Department has warned residents to remain cautious for the next three days. Officials advised people to avoid early morning exposure to cold, especially in districts recording extreme temperatures.
Elderly people, children, and those with respiratory or heart-related ailments have been urged to take extra precautions. Doctors also recommend wearing adequate warm clothing and consuming hot fluids to prevent cold-related illnesses.
Daily Life Affected by Falling Temperatures
The sudden drop in temperatures has begun to affect daily routines across Telangana. Morning walks have reduced, while schools and workplaces have seen people arriving wrapped in winter wear. In some areas, foggy conditions during early hours have also slowed traffic movement.
As the cold wave continues, authorities remain alert and are closely monitoring weather updates. Residents are advised to follow official advisories and stay prepared until temperatures return to normal levels.
