A shocking kidnapping case in Dharwad, Karnataka, ended with relief after a road accident helped police rescue two missing schoolchildren. Alert teachers and quick police action ensured the children returned home safely.

Children Go Missing

The incident occurred on Monday at a government school in Dharwad. Two Class 3 students, Tanveer and Lakshmi, went missing during the lunch break. When they did not return after classes resumed, teachers searched the campus.

After failing to find the children, teachers informed the parents and alerted the police. The situation caused panic among families.

CCTV Clue and Rescue

Police reached the school and checked nearby CCTV cameras. The footage showed a man taking the children away on a motorcycle. Police traced the route and launched a search.

The kidnapper met with a road accident near Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district. Police reached the spot and caught the accused. Officers found the children safe and reunited them with their parents.

Accused in Custody

Police identified the accused as Karim Mestri. He suffered injuries and received medical treatment. During questioning, he admitted that he lured the children by promising to take them to the Ulavi Chenna Basaveshwara Jatara.

Police have registered a case and continue the investigation. Officials praised the teachers for their quick response, which helped save the children.
