The Women’s Premier League continues to grow with every season. As WPL 2026 enters its fourth edition, new talent is grabbing the spotlight. T20 cricket suits young players well. Therefore, the league has once again become a launchpad for rising stars. At the same time, a few experienced players are finally showing their best form.
Overseas Players make early impact
South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk has emerged as a key performer this season. She already impressed fans during the ODI World Cup. Now, she is repeating that form in the WPL. Picked by Bengaluru for ₹65 lakh, Nadine delivered immediately. She took four wickets and scored a quick 63 against Mumbai. As a result, Bengaluru secured a thrilling win. Later, she added two more wickets against UP Warriors.

Meanwhile, England pacer Lauren Bell has strengthened RCB’s bowling unit. The franchise bought her for ₹90 lakh this season. She proved her worth in the very first match. Bell bowled a maiden over to Amelia Kerr and kept the runs in check. Additionally, she followed it up with another tidy spell against UP Warriors.

Mumbai’s new recruit Nicola Carey has also impressed early. Bought for just ₹30 lakh, she has delivered consistent all-round performances. She scored quick runs and picked up key wickets in both matches. Similarly, South African batter Lizelle Lee turned heads with a powerful 86 against Gujarat, proving that experience still matters.

Indian youngsters shine bright
Indian players are also making headlines in WPL 2026. Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Nandani Sharma has been outstanding so far. Acquired for only ₹20 lakh, she has taken seven wickets in two matches. Notably, she claimed four wickets in a single over against Gujarat. As a result, even top overseas batters struggled against her pace.

On the batting front, Anushka Sharma impressed for Gujarat with a brisk 44 off 30 balls against UP. Meanwhile, Mumbai batter Kamalini has started to justify the trust shown in her. Retained for ₹50 lakh, she played with confidence and scored 32 in the opening match.
Overall, WPL 2026 is shaping up as an exciting season. New stars are rising fast. At the same time, quality performances are lifting the league’s standard. Clearly, the WPL continues to strengthen women’s cricket in India and beyond.
