Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that boat races in Atreyapuram during Sankranthi resemble the famous Kerala boat races. He made these remarks while addressing a teleconference with ministers, MPs, MLAs, senior leaders, and party workers on the occasion of the festival.
The Chief Minister said Sankranthi reflects love for nature and respect for livestock. According to him, the festival represents the cultural roots of the people. He noted that villages across the state are celebrating Sankranthi with great enthusiasm and traditional spirit.
Festival Spirit From Ichchapuram to Kuppam
Chandrababu Naidu said the festive atmosphere is visible from Ichchapuram to Kuppam. Every district is witnessing joyful celebrations, he added. He also praised the Jaggannathota Prabhalu festival, calling it a grand event that the government now considers a state-level celebration.
The Chief Minister said festivals remind people of their childhood and village traditions. Moreover, he warned that forgetting customs and culture could threaten the identity of society. Therefore, he stressed the importance of preserving traditions.
Tourism and Development Activities Gain Momentum
The Chief Minister said several Sankranthi events are taking place in North Andhra, Godavari, Krishna, and NTR districts. He highlighted celebrations at Gandikota in Kadapa district and the Flamingo Festival in Sullurpeta. According to him, Andhra Pradesh has many tourism destinations, and the government is working to develop them systematically.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu said villages have improved significantly under the coalition government. He noted that damaged rural roads are no longer visible. The government is moving forward with planned development programs to strengthen villages.
Governance, Welfare, and Economic Progress
Chandrababu Naidu said the government fulfilled public needs in 2025. In 2026, the focus will be on meeting people’s aspirations. He stated that the administration follows a “speed of doing business” and “speed of governance delivery” approach.
The Chief Minister said the government implemented several schemes after coming to power. These include Mega DSC, police recruitment, Thalliki Vandanam, Annadata Sukhibhava, Stree Shakti, NTR Bharosa, and Anna Canteens. He also said farmers received payments within 48 hours after paddy procurement. This year, the government procured 42 lakh metric tonnes and paid ₹10,000 crore.
Major Projects and Future Vision
Chandrababu Naidu said power tariff burdens have reduced, with further cuts planned. He also announced that Amaravati capital works and the Polavaram project are progressing rapidly. Additionally, the Velugonda project will supply water to Prakasam and Markapuram districts.
The Chief Minister said the coalition government aims for happiness across all sections of society. He added that employee dues, including DA arrears and surrender leave payments, have been cleared. Finally, he urged party leaders to take government achievements to the people and expressed confidence in coalition victories in future elections.
