The Tirumala laddu ghee adulteration case has reached a decisive stage as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) filed its first charge sheet in the Nellore court. After a 15-month investigation across 12 states, the SIT named 24 people as accused and revealed the involvement of 12 more individuals. Officials identified Bole Baba Organic Dairy directors Pomil Jain and Vipin Jain as the key masterminds behind the alleged scam.
Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy is one of the most revered deities for Hindus worldwide. Devotees consider the Tirumala laddu prasadam sacred. Allegations of adulterated ghee in its preparation shocked the nation and triggered widespread anger. Following the Supreme Court’s directions, the government formed the SIT to ensure a transparent and thorough probe.
The SIT traced the ghee supply chain beyond Andhra Pradesh to multiple states. Investigators focused on sourcing, transportation, storage, and testing records. Their findings reportedly pointed to Uttar Pradesh-based Bole Baba Organic Dairy as a crucial link in the operation. The charge sheet stated that the company supplied ghee mixed with animal fat and inferior oils instead of pure cow ghee.
Officials collected laboratory reports, financial documents, and witness statements during the investigation. The SIT noted that the accused allegedly carried out the adulteration in a planned manner to reduce costs and increase profits. Investigators warned that such actions posed serious health risks and deeply hurt religious sentiments.
According to the charge sheet, the SIT named 24 individuals as primary accused. It also informed the court about 12 others who allegedly played supporting roles. Officials said further investigation will continue to determine their exact involvement. The court accepted the charge sheet and is expected to begin hearings in the coming days.
Legal experts believe the case could become a landmark in handling food adulteration linked to religious institutions. Devotees and religious groups have demanded strict punishment for those responsible. Many have also urged authorities to strengthen monitoring systems for temple prasadam preparation.
The SIT stated that it remains committed to accountability and transparency. More updates are expected as the case moves forward in court.
