Auto Driver Builds Electric Auto in Kurnool
An ordinary auto driver from Telangana has stunned many by building an electric auto on his own in Kurnool. Beachpalli alias Akhil converted his diesel auto into a battery-powered vehicle to escape rising fuel costs. Without formal engineering education, he proved that innovation comes from determination, not degrees. His effort has reduced daily expenses and turned him into an inspiration for many drivers facing fuel pressure.
Fuel Costs Forced a Life-Changing Idea
Akhil migrated from Bonkur village in Jogulamba Gadwal district to Kurnool for livelihood. He worked long hours every day to support his family. However, most of his income went into diesel. Savings became impossible. That daily struggle pushed him to think differently. Instead of accepting losses, he decided to find a permanent solution to cut fuel expenses.
Old Diesel Auto Turned Electric Vehicle
Using his savings of ₹80,000, Akhil converted his old diesel auto into an electric vehicle. He took no technical help from outside. The electric auto now runs at 30–40 kmph and gives up to 80 km mileage on a single charge. Encouraged by the success, he also built a small electric car, surprising locals and officials alike.
Recognition Came, Support Still Missing
The Telangana government awarded Akhil the “Intintaa Innovation Award” for his creativity. While the award brought recognition, financial support did not follow. Akhil believes government investment can help him create more affordable electric vehicles. Many locals now urge authorities to offer subsidies or loans to rural innovators like him.
Akhil’s journey from auto driver to innovator shows how grassroots talent can shape the future. With timely support, such innovation can grow stronger across the country.
