A tragic incident involving banned Chinese manja claimed the life of a young girl in Hyderabad on Monday. The child died after the sharp kite string got stuck around her neck while she was travelling on a bike with her father. The incident occurred near Vivekananda Nagar in the Kukatpally area, triggering shock and outrage among residents.
According to police, the girl was riding on a two-wheeler with her father when the Chinese manja suddenly wrapped tightly around her neck. She screamed in pain, prompting her father to stop the bike immediately. He then noticed that the sharp string had caused deep injuries to her throat.
Child Succumbs to Injuries Despite Rush to Hospital
The girl suffered severe bleeding and struggled to breathe. Her father rushed her to a nearby hospital without delay. Doctors, however, declared her dead on arrival. The Kukatpally police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify those responsible for flying kites using banned Chinese manja in the area.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by the illegal use of Chinese manja. Despite strict bans, some individuals continue to use the sharp string, putting innocent lives at risk.
Warnings Ignored Despite Ban on Chinese Manja
Police and civic authorities had issued repeated warnings during the recent Sankranti festival. They urged people not to use Chinese manja for kite flying. Officials also warned of strict legal action against those who sell or use the banned string.
Despite these warnings, violations continue to surface. The latest incident has claimed the life of a five-year-old child, raising serious concerns over enforcement and public safety. Residents are demanding stricter monitoring and stronger action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The incident has left the local community in grief and renewed calls for zero tolerance against the use of banned kite strings in the city.
