Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar died in a tragic plane crash. Officials are expected to conduct his last rites with full state honours at 11 am today in Baramati, reports said.
Ajit Pawar’s mortal remains will lie in state at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds. Party workers, supporters, and the general public are expected to gather in large numbers to pay their respects.
Reports said several national and state leaders plan to attend the funeral. NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra ministers, and Pawar family members may also be present.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reached Baramati to supervise the arrangements. Officials reportedly reviewed security, crowd management, and ceremonial protocols ahead of the funeral.
The Maharashtra government announced three days of state mourning as a mark of respect. The administration may declare a holiday for government offices and educational institutions across the state today.
