The NDA parliamentary party meeting began in New Delhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The session brought together MPs from the BJP, TDP, Jana Sena, JD(U), LJP(R), Shiv Sena, and JD(S). At the start, Prime Minister Modi and newly appointed BJP national president Nitin Nabin were felicitated by NDA lawmakers. The meeting focused on the Union Budget 2026, the “Vikasit Bharat @2047” vision, and the government’s legislative agenda in Parliament.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented key features of the upcoming budget. Discussions also covered government bills, economic policies, governance priorities, and parliamentary strategies. Prime Minister Modi emphasised political and governance issues while guiding party MPs on legislative focus. The session aimed to ensure party unity and strategic engagement during the ongoing budget session.
The timing of the meeting, in the middle of the budget session, was significant. Recent Lok Sabha disruptions, including Rahul Gandhi’s comments on China, underscored the need for NDA MPs to maintain cohesion. Party leaders urged MPs to actively participate in budget debates and assert the government’s position strongly.
During the discussions, Prime Minister Modi addressed concerns regarding US tariffs on Indian goods. He stated that despite criticism, the government exercised patience, which has now yielded positive results. Modi highlighted that the recent trade agreement with the United States would create a favourable economic environment and demonstrate the government’s steady stance in international trade negotiations.
The meeting concluded with a renewed focus on legislative priorities and economic strategy. NDA leaders were instructed to remain coordinated, strengthen party messaging in Parliament, and support the government’s policies effectively in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
