Police in West Godavari district have launched a focused awareness drive to strengthen public safety and improve compliance with traffic rules. The programme took place in Narsapur town under the leadership of DSP Sriveda and CI Yadagiri. The initiative aimed to educate motorists about traffic discipline while reinforcing the importance of peace and road safety in urban areas.
Emphasis on Traffic Discipline
During the awareness programme, police officers interacted directly with vehicle users. They explained the importance of following traffic rules at all times. DSP Sriveda urged motorists to wear helmets without exception and avoid risky driving habits. She stressed that responsible behaviour on roads plays a major role in preventing accidents.
Officers also clarified common traffic violations and their consequences. They encouraged drivers to follow speed limits, obey signals, and respect pedestrian crossings. The team highlighted that safety rules exist to protect lives, not to penalise citizens.
Police Focus on Public Safety
DSP Sriveda stated that maintaining peace and order remains a top priority for the police department. Along with law enforcement, road safety has become a key focus area in towns experiencing increasing traffic movement. She said disciplined driving helps reduce accidents and ensures smooth traffic flow.
CI Yadagiri added that public cooperation is essential for effective traffic management. He appealed to citizens to support police efforts by following the rules voluntarily. He also advised parents to guide young riders and discourage underage driving.
Awareness Programmes to Continue
Police officials confirmed that similar awareness campaigns will continue across the district. The department plans to conduct regular interactions with motorists, students, and commercial drivers. These programmes aim to build long-term awareness rather than impose fear of penalties.
The police also reminded citizens that traffic violations can lead to serious legal consequences. However, officers emphasised education over punishment during the campaign. They believe informed drivers contribute to safer roads.
Positive Response From Public
Many motorists welcomed the initiative and appreciated the direct engagement by senior officers. Residents said such programmes help clarify doubts and encourage responsible road behaviour.
With increasing vehicle numbers in Narsapur, police officials believe awareness drives will help reduce accidents and improve overall traffic discipline. The department reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining peace through proactive measures.
