Urban Development Spending
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that his government invested ₹17,442 crore over the last two years to develop 123 municipalities and seven corporations. His administration focused on improving infrastructure, public amenities, and civic services across the state.
Criticism of the Previous BRS Government
Reddy accused the former BRS administration led by K. Chandrashekar Rao of collecting ₹20 lakh crore in taxes over a decade but failing to provide double-bedroom houses for the poor. He also noted that KCR’s development efforts concentrated only on Gajwel, Siddipet, and Sircilla, leaving other regions neglected.
Alleged BJP-BRS Nexus
The Chief Minister described the relationship between the BJP and the BRS as a “Fevicol bond”. He claimed both parties collaborated strategically, alleging that BRS “donated” votes and seats to help BJP win eight MP seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
Kaleshwaram Project Controversy
Reddy criticised the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, calling it “Kooleshwaram”. He said BRS used the project as an “ATM” and questioned why the Central government has not launched a CBI investigation, despite an Assembly resolution demanding action.
Central Government Critique
He further criticized BJP for focusing on municipal campaigns by bringing national leaders while ignoring key projects like Kaleshwaram, Palamuru-Rangareddy, the Musi river project, and Metro Rail funding.
Opposition Responses
Former minister Harish Rao of the BRS predicted that KCR would return as Chief Minister in two years. He urged voters to ensure Congress fulfils its assembly election promises before seeking votes in municipal elections.
Central Minister Bandi Sanjay pledged to bring ₹500 crore to Telangana if the BJP wins the municipal elections. He criticised the Speaker’s ruling on party defections, calling it “atrocious.” Union Minister Kishan Reddy accused Congress of exploiting Telangana as a “golden goose” for party funds.
