A major accident was narrowly avoided in the Nellore district after an RTC bus caught fire. The bus was travelling from Tirupati to Vinukonda when flames broke out near Vinnamala, close to Naidupeta. Alert passengers noticed smoke rising from inside the bus and raised an alarm.
The driver responded immediately and stopped the bus on the roadside. He then helped all passengers get down quickly before the fire spread further. Moments after the passengers exited, the flames intensified and engulfed a large part of the bus.
Short Circuit Suspected as Cause
Initial information suggests that a short circuit inside the bus triggered the fire. Because of the driver’s timely action, a major tragedy was prevented. There were 29 passengers on board at the time of the incident.
Local authorities later reached the spot and began an inquiry into the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported, and all passengers escaped safely.
