The annual Brahmotsavams at the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srinivasamangapuram began in a grand and devotional manner with the ceremonial Dhwajarohanam. The sacred ritual took place during the auspicious Kumbha Lagna amid Vedic chants, traditional music, and loud chants of “Govinda” by devotees.
Temple priests conducted the Dhwajarohanam as per Agama Shastra traditions. The atmosphere around the temple turned spiritual as devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the beginning of the nine-day festival. The rituals marked the formal start of the Brahmotsavams, which are considered one of the most important annual events at the temple.
Before the Dhwajarohanam, the temple authorities performed the Tiruchi Utsavam. According to temple tradition, the deity symbolically reviews the festival arrangements through this ritual. Devotees believe this practice ensures the smooth conduct of the Brahmotsavams.
Sacred Rituals Performed as Per Tradition
After the Tiruchi Utsavam, priests performed several important rituals, including Vishwaksena Aradhana, Vastu Homam, Garuda Linga Homam, Garuda Pratishtha, and Raksha Bandhanam. Each ritual followed strict scriptural procedures under the guidance of experienced Vedic scholars.
Later, during Meena Lagna, priests conducted the Dhwajarohanam in the presence of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy, along with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The temple flag was hoisted on the Dhwaja Stambham, signalling the official commencement of the Brahmotsavams.
TTD Executive Officer Ravichandra stated that the Dhwajarohanam marked the beginning of the Brahmotsavams with divine blessings. He added that the temple made all arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of rituals and crowd management during the festival period.
Temple officials expect a steady flow of devotees throughout the Brahmotsavams. They have put security, sanitation, and queue management systems in place to provide a comfortable darshan experience. Cultural and religious programs will continue daily as part of the celebrations.
The Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple holds special significance for devotees, and the Brahmotsavams attract pilgrims from different regions. Devotees believe that witnessing these sacred rituals brings spiritual peace and divine grace.
