The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly concluded under the chairmanship of Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu. During the meeting, leaders decided to conduct Assembly sessions until March 7. However, they also agreed to extend the schedule if necessary.
According to the decision taken in the AP BAC meeting, the Assembly will function for a total of 17 working days. Importantly, the state government will present the annual Budget on February 14, which is expected to set the tone for financial planning and development priorities in Andhra Pradesh.
Budget Schedule and Key Dates
As per the schedule finalised in the AP BAC meeting, the House will observe holidays for Maha Shivaratri and the following day, February 16. After the break, members will resume discussions on the Budget.
The Assembly will hold a detailed debate on the Budget on February 17 and 18. Subsequently, the Finance Minister will reply to the discussion on February 18, addressing concerns raised by members across parties. These discussions are likely to focus on welfare allocations, development projects, and fiscal management.
Flexibility to Extend Sessions
Although the BAC fixed March 7 as the tentative last day of the session, members kept the option open to extend proceedings if legislative business requires additional time. This flexibility ensures that all key issues receive adequate discussion inside the House.
The AP BAC meeting plays a crucial role in setting the legislative agenda. Finalising the number of working days and debate schedule, it provides clarity to both the government and the opposition. With the Budget presentation approaching, political attention now shifts to the financial proposals that the government will unveil on February 14.
As the Assembly prepares for 17 days of deliberations, all eyes remain on how the government outlines its economic roadmap and how the opposition responds during the upcoming Budget discussions.
