Questions on IIIT Campus in Puttaparthi
The second day of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly budget session began with the Speaker, Chintakayala Ayyaannapattu, overseeing a question-and-answer segment. MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy raised concerns about setting up an IIIT campus in Puttaparthi. He highlighted that students face difficulties due to the temporary IIIT campus in Ongole, which forces them to travel between Idulapaya and Ongole, creating severe inconvenience.
Minister Nara Lokesh responded, clarifying that there is no proposal to establish an IIIT campus in Puttaparthi.
Alleged Irregularities at Adikavi Nannaya University
MLA Bathula Balaramakrishna raised allegations of irregularities within the Adikavi Nannaya University jurisdiction. He claimed that some colleges operate without proper permissions.
Minister Lokesh assured the assembly that the government would take strict action against illegal operations once full details are available. He also requested members to bring specific information about which colleges received permissions to his attention.
Putturu Municipality Chairman Controversy
Members also questioned the government regarding false caste verification allegations against the Putturu Municipality Chairman. Minister Narayana stated that the chairman had already been removed from his position.
MLA Bhanu Prakash added that the previous government had manipulated local body elections, allowing officials to obtain positions with fake certificates. He also noted that the past administration had disrupted local governance and reserved seats. Bhanu Prakash asked whether the government would initiate criminal action against those responsible.
Minister Narayana responded that all questions raised under GO 135 had been answered. He added that the government would review possible additional actions based on the assembly members’ suggestions.
