A badminton tournament at KL University was inaugurated by Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAP) Chairman Ravi Naidu on Saturday. Speaking at the event, Ravi Naidu said the coalition government has given special importance to badminton and other sports disciplines across the state. He added that the government is also developing a high-level sports hub in Amaravati to support emerging athletes.
During his address, Ravi Naidu strongly criticised the previous YSRCP government over alleged corruption in sports-related programmes. He stated that he was the first to file a complaint regarding the ₹100 crore scam linked to the ‘Aadudam Andhra’ initiative. As a result, vigilance officials have launched a detailed investigation into the issue. He asserted that authorities will arrest those involved in corruption without exception.
vigilance probe into sports scams underway
Ravi Naidu revealed that vigilance inquiries are currently ongoing into large-scale irregularities that occurred during the previous regime. According to him, nearly 34 corruption cases related to sports development are under investigation. He further alleged that corruption worth ₹116 crore took place in SAP during the YSRCP government’s tenure.
Moreover, he accused former ruling party leaders of lacking basic knowledge about sports. He remarked that they only understand online games and have no real interest in developing athletes or sporting infrastructure. Therefore, he claimed, YSRCP leaders are making baseless allegations against the present coalition government due to the absence of a political future.
sports politics and kabaddi federation disputes
Ravi Naidu also spoke about ongoing disputes within kabaddi associations. He alleged that certain individuals are creating conflicts within sports bodies only to secure positions of power. He warned that the government will not tolerate such practices and will take strict action wherever necessary.
Later, Ravi Naidu interacted face-to-face with media representatives and clarified that the coalition government remains committed to transparency in sports administration. He emphasised that encouraging genuine talent and building world-class facilities remains the top priority.
The badminton tournament at KL University witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and athletes. Organisers said such events help identify young talent and promote a strong sports culture in educational institutions.
Officials reiterated that the vigilance investigation into the Aadudam Andhra scam is progressing and assured that those responsible for corruption will be brought to justice soon.
