Adilabad district witnessed a terrifying road accident on Monday morning in Shyampur, Utnoor Mandal. A TGSRTC bus travelling from Adilabad to Asifabad lost control near the Shyampur bridge and plunged into a stream. The incident occurred around 6 a.m., leaving passengers and authorities in shock.
The bus carried 37 passengers at the time of the accident. Reports confirm that 30 people sustained injuries, while the bus conductor and several others remain in serious condition. Local police and residents quickly rushed to the scene, rescuing the injured and transporting them to Utnoor Government Hospital for immediate treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that dense morning fog, the narrow bridge, and the absence of a safety barrier contributed to the accident. Officials believe these factors combined to make the bridge highly dangerous during early morning hours.
State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Adilabad In-Charge Minister Jupally Krishnarao expressed deep concern over the accident. They immediately contacted TGSRTC MD Nagireddy to gather details and assess the situation. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
This tragic incident highlights the importance of road safety measures, particularly on narrow bridges in foggy conditions. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution and adhere to speed regulations, especially in high-risk zones like Shyampur.
