The Alluri Araku Fest begins today in the picturesque Araku Valley, widely known as the Andhra Ooty. The Andhra Pradesh government is hosting the festival as a major tourism event, running from today until February 1. With elaborate arrangements in place, officials expect visitors from across the country to attend the celebrations.
To ensure a grand experience, the government has allocated nearly ₹8 crore for the festival and planned it on an unprecedented scale. Through this initiative, authorities aim to showcase Araku’s breathtaking natural beauty and vibrant tribal heritage to a global audience. Meanwhile, Collector Dinesh Kumar and ITDA Project Officer Tirumani Sripooja are actively monitoring all arrangements to ensure smooth execution.
At the same time, the police department has strengthened security across the region. SP Amit Bardar is personally supervising security deployments at festival venues and nearby tourist areas. In addition, the district administration has introduced special measures to regulate crowds and manage traffic throughout the event.
The festival opened with colourful cultural performances and exciting adventure activities. Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani and Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh are scheduled to participate in the celebrations, along with other state ministers. Earlier, Collector Dinesh Kumar, SP Amit Bardar, and DSP Abhishek jointly unveiled the official festival poster on Tuesday evening.
As part of the three-day carnival, nearly 400 artists are performing on various stages. Every day, tribal dancers from different regions of the state present traditional dance forms. These performances include Thappeta Gullu, energetic Dappu rhythms, Puliveshalu, and several other folk arts that reflect the essence of tribal life.
Meanwhile, adventure lovers can enjoy exclusive attractions during the festival. On January 30, officials have scheduled a special trekking event at the Galikonda View Point along the Visakhapatnam–Araku ghat road. Notably, this marks the first time such a trekking programme is being organised in the area, attracting trekking enthusiasts from multiple regions.
Overall, the Alluri Araku Fest beautifully blends culture, nature, and adventure. As a result, visitors can enjoy a memorable experience amid the lush green hills and scenic landscapes of Araku Valley.
