Hyderabad: A heartbreaking incident in Amberpet has left the city in shock. Three members of the same family died in succession, raising serious concerns about family suicides in the region.
Sequence of the Tragedy
Police reported that the tragedy began when Madhavi, the wife, took her own life. Shortly afterwards, her husband Ramaraju hanged himself at home. Finally, their son Shashank fatally injured himself with a knife, causing severe blood loss.
Police immediately rushed to the scene after receiving the report. They registered a case and began an investigation. They identified the victims as Ramaraju (55), Madhavi (50), and Shashank (24). Authorities transported their bodies to the government hospital in Secunderabad for a postmortem.
Rising Concern Over Family Suicides
This incident follows another shocking tragedy on January 31, when a mother and her two children jumped in front of a train on the Charlapalli–Ghatkesar railway line. These repeated suicides are causing widespread alarm across the state.
Experts Urge Awareness and Support
Mental health professionals stress the importance of addressing depression and loneliness early. They advise families and friends to communicate openly. Moreover, they recommend seeking help from counsellors or psychologists whenever necessary.
Police have urged residents to watch for signs of distress among family members and report them immediately. Early intervention can save lives and prevent such tragedies in the future.
