Andhra Pradesh is taking major steps to become a leader in future technologies. The state government is focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing. During the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on February 20, it signed seven key Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs). Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu attended the event. These agreements aim to strengthen AI and quantum research, infrastructure, and skill development in the state.
Driving Future Tech in Amaravati
The agreements are part of Andhra Pradesh’s plan to develop Amaravati Quantum Valley. The goal is to make Amaravati a national and global hub for AI and quantum technology. The MOUs will help establish centres of excellence, train students and professionals, and create facilities for research and innovation.
MOU 1 – UNICC Centre of Excellence
The state partnered with the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC). They plan to build a Centre of Excellence in AI and quantum computing in Amaravati by the end of this year. This centre will also act as a digital embassy for AI and quantum initiatives. UNICC representatives, including Director Sameer Chauhan, attended the signing.
MOU 2 – IBM Skill Development
Andhra Pradesh signed an agreement with IBM to train 100,000 youth in AI, quantum computing, and cybersecurity. IBM will use its global digital learning platform to prepare students for the IT industry. IBM India MD Sandeep Patel and other executives joined the signing. This program aims to build a future-ready workforce.
MOU 3 – NIELIT AI & Quantum University
The government also signed an MOU with the National Institute of Electronics & IT (NIELIT). They will set up the first AI-Quantum Deemed University in South India. The state will provide land and quantum hardware. The central government will fund infrastructure. This university will position Amaravati as a national hub for quantum computing.
MOU 4 – Bharat GenNext AI Tech Hub
Another agreement with Bharat GenNext IBM focuses on building a 5-layer AI tech hub. The hub will support government services and integrate 22 Indian languages. Executives from both organisations attended the signing ceremony.
MOU 5 – Calibo AI Academy & Sandbox
To strengthen AI and quantum education, the state signed an MOU with Calibo AI. The plan covers 50 higher education institutions. It will establish AI academies, sandboxes, and innovation labs. Graduates, postgraduates, and faculty will benefit from an AI-integrated curriculum and practical skill training.
MOU 6 – Visor Centre of Excellence
The government also partnered with Visor. Together, they will create a Centre of Excellence in Amaravati Quantum Valley. The goal is to train 350,000 AI-Quantum learners by 2026 and expand to 600,000 by 2027. Quantum Solutions Head Vardhan Sehgal joined the event.
MOU 7 – IIT Madras AI Tutor
Finally, the state signed an agreement with IIT Madras. The plan is to provide AI tutors for school students in government and private schools. IIT Madras Director Prof. Kam Koti and Prof. Mitesh participated. This initiative will enable AI-assisted learning across Andhra Pradesh.
Building a National AI-Quantum Hub
With these seven MOUs, Andhra Pradesh is laying the foundation for a strong AI and quantum ecosystem. The agreements focus on skill development, research, and technology infrastructure. Students and professionals will gain access to world-class training. Amaravati Quantum Valley is on track to gain national and international recognition as a tech hub.
