The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day fog and mist alert for several parts of Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema. The warning comes from the Meteorological Centre, Amaravati, and remains valid from January 15 to January 19, 2026.
Fog Likely Across Andhra Pradesh Regions
According to IMD officials, fog or mist may form in isolated pockets over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema from January 15 to January 17. These conditions may reduce visibility during early morning hours.
As a result, commuters should stay alert while traveling during dawn hours. Fog may especially affect highways, rural roads, and low-lying areas.
Limited Impact After January 17
From January 18 to January 19, fog conditions may continue only in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Meanwhile, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may experience clearer weather.
However, IMD experts advise residents to remain cautious, as localized mist can still occur in some areas.
No Major Change in Night Temperatures
IMD officials confirmed that minimum temperatures will remain stable across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema during the five-day period. Therefore, people may not experience any major cold wave conditions.
At the same time, weather conditions will stay mostly dry across the state.
Advisory for Commuters and Residents
IMD urged motorists to drive slowly during foggy hours and use fog lights when necessary. In addition, pedestrians should remain cautious near highways.
Farmers and daily commuters should also follow regular weather updates. Authorities continue to monitor conditions closely and will issue further alerts if required.
Overall, while fog may cause temporary inconvenience, stable temperatures and dry weather will keep conditions manageable across Andhra Pradesh in the coming days.
