Renowned music director Anirudh Ravichandran’s concert, ‘Hukum’, is set to light up the Chennai coastline on August 23. The musical night at Swarmabhoomi in Kuvatthur is dubbed a rare treat for music lovers on the city’s scenic beach.
However, a local MLA approached the Madras High Court, claiming the event does not have authorisation from the district collector. Cheyyur MLA Panaiyur Babu filed a petition in the Madras High Court. The MLA alleged that organisers had not obtained the Collector’s permission and raised concerns about inadequate arrangements for the attending public.
Hearing the petition, Madras High Court Judge Justice Anand Venkatesh granted permission for the concert but laid out strict conditions. The High Court instructed organisers to take appropriate measures to ensure public safety, noting the potential for large crowds. Additionally, the organisers were directed to obtain permission from the Mahabalipuram DSP as well.
With judicial approval now in place, the musical evening is set to proceed on Saturday, albeit under stringent safeguards. The organisers confirmed their commitment to following all precautions mandated by the court, assuring concertgoers of a safe and enjoyable experience.
