IG Ashok Reviews Security Arrangements in Narsapuram
Extensive security arrangements have been put in place for the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Kalyana Mahotsavam at Antarvedi in West Godavari district. Authorities deployed nearly 1,400 police personnel to ensure the smooth conduct of the five-day religious event. Officials said the measures aim to manage large crowds and maintain public safety throughout the celebrations.
To ease movement for devotees, officials allowed traffic on the Chinchinada bridge during the festival period. At the same time, police strengthened security along the Antarvedi seashore, as heavy footfall is expected near the coast. Teams of trained swimmers were stationed at key points, and life jackets were kept ready to handle emergencies. Officials urged visitors to follow safety instructions near water bodies.
In addition, authorities imposed restrictions on river travel. They permitted boat movement in the Godavari River between Narsapuram and Sakhinetipalli only until 8 pm. Police said the step would reduce risks during night hours and help control movement more effectively. Officials also coordinated with local departments to ensure clear signage and public announcements.
Eluru Range Inspector General Ashok reviewed the arrangements during a visit to Narsapuram. He held a meeting with senior police officers and assessed crowd control plans, traffic management, and emergency response readiness. The IG instructed teams to remain alert and respond quickly to any situation. He also stressed coordination among police, revenue, and disaster response units.
Meanwhile, local authorities continued preparations at the temple and surrounding areas. They focused on entry and exit routes, queue management, and parking facilities. Police advised devotees to cooperate with security checks and avoid overcrowded spots. They also requested families to keep children under supervision.
Officials said the festival holds deep religious significance and attracts devotees from across the region. Therefore, they planned the arrangements with special care. With enhanced security, regulated traffic, and safety measures near the river and seashore, authorities expect the Kalyana Mahotsavam to conclude peacefully and without incident.
