BENGALURU – Anthropic, a leading AI company, opened its new office in Bengaluru on February 16. This marks a major step in its expansion across Asia. The Bengaluru office is Anthropic’s second in Asia, following Tokyo, and highlights India’s growing importance in AI.
India: A Key Market for Claude AI
Anthropic sees India as its second-largest market for Claude.ai. Around half of Claude’s usage in India focuses on computer science and mathematics tasks. This shows both the demand for AI tools and India’s technical expertise.
Leadership Driving Responsible AI
Under the leadership of Irina Ghosh, India Managing Director, Anthropic plans to use India’s digital infrastructure to deliver responsible AI. The company emphasises ethical development and accessibility. Its goal is to ensure AI benefits users across industries.
Strategic Partnerships in Education and Legal Services
Anthropic is forming key partnerships to expand Claude.ai’s impact:
Education: Working with NGO Pratham, the company launched the “Anytime Testing Machine,” powered by Claude AI. The pilot serves 1,500 students across 20 schools. By the end of 2026, it aims to reach 100 schools. This project improves digital learning and assessment access.
Legal Services: Partnering with Adalat AI, Anthropic helps citizens access legal services. A WhatsApp helpline provides court updates, document translations, and summaries in regional languages. This bridges the information gap for many.
Economic Growth and Job Creation
Since October 2025, Anthropic has doubled its revenue in India. The company now plans to hire locally in multiple departments. This expansion will create jobs and strengthen India’s AI ecosystem.
With its Bengaluru office now operational, Anthropic is ready to broaden AI solutions in education, legal services, and the tech industries. This move positions India as a key player in the global AI revolution.
