The Andhra Pradesh government has announced plans to construct a massive statue of late former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). Minister Ponguru Narayana revealed that the state will spend ₹1,750 crore on the ambitious project.

According to the minister, the government took this decision to preserve and showcase NTR’s legacy for future generations. He said NTR played a historic role in shaping Andhra Pradesh politics and empowering Telugu self-respect. Therefore, the statue aims to stand as a lasting symbol of his vision and leadership.
A Landmark Cultural Project
Ponguru Narayana stated that the proposed statue will not only honour NTR but also emerge as a major cultural landmark. Moreover, the government plans to design the project in a way that reflects NTR’s contributions to politics, cinema, and public life. Officials are expected to finalise the location and design details soon.
