Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasised that law and order in the State is key for attracting global investments and police force should play an active role in maintaining law and order.
Speaking at the police commemoration day event organised at the APSP 6th Battalion Ground in Mangalagiri on Tuesday, the Chief Minister affirmed the State government’s commitment towards the welfare of the police. “As many as 192 policemen sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties across the nation over the past year,” Naidu said.
Naidu expressed confidence in the state of law and order in the State, citing the major investment announcement by Google to set up the biggest AI Data Centre outside United States.
He affirmed that the development of the State is only possible with police playing a pivotal role in checking the crimes and thwarting the attempts of criminals.
Upskilling is key to curb crime: CM to police
On the occasion, Naidu directed the police personnel to upskill and add new abilities to their repertoire to curb crimes and cybermenace, citing the increased use of advanced technology in the modus operandi of criminals.
The Chief Minister also underscored the role of the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) in curbing the ganja and drug abuse.
In a veiled dig at YSRCP leaders, Naidu said, “Some people are resorting to crimes in the guise of politics. Police must act tough on such individuals who try to create unrest in the State through their false propaganda for political mileage.” He also instructed them not to spare those who resort to character assassination on social media platforms.
The Chief Minister urged the police force to lead in adopting new technology and announced that the government had strengthened the Greyhounds unit. He stated that the police must take strict action against anti-social elements. He mentioned that the State government had released ₹33 crore towards medical and health facilities for the police force over the past 16 months.
