Renew Photovoltaics to Invest ₹3,990 Crore; SIPB Approves Project
Andhra Pradesh is set to create a major landmark in India’s renewable energy sector. The state will soon host the country’s first integrated 6 GW solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility. The project will come up in Rambilli, Anakapalli district, and strengthen AP’s position in advanced solar manufacturing.
Renew Photovoltaics, a subsidiary of Renew Energy Global PLC, will build the greenfield plant with an investment of ₹3,990 crore. This unit will produce solar ingots and wafers, which are essential for making solar cells and modules. India currently depends heavily on imports, especially from China, for these components. The new unit aims to reduce that reliance.
SIPB Approves the Project
The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, has approved the project. The proposal came from an MoU signed during the recent Partnership Summit. The state Cabinet will review the project next week for final clearance.
Officials stated that the project supports AP’s industrial goals and aligns with the Government of India’s solar manufacturing push under the PLI scheme.

Boost to India’s Renewable-Energy Goals
The upcoming unit will strengthen India’s solar value chain and cut the need for imported parts. It will also support the national target of adding 300 GW of solar capacity by 2030.
The plant will be built on 130–140 acres in Rambilli. The land has already been identified and will be handed over soon. Construction is expected to finish by March 2026, and the company plans to start commercial operations by January 2028.
Job Creation and Resource Requirements
The project will create nearly 1,200 direct jobs, including high-skilled and semi-skilled roles. It will need 95 MW of uninterrupted power and about 10 MLD of water. This makes it one of the most advanced and resource-intensive renewable-energy manufacturing facilities in the country.
AP Emerging as a Clean-Energy Hub
With this investment, Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam are rapidly becoming major clean-energy hubs. Andhra Pradesh continues to attract large renewable-energy projects due to its supportive policies and strong infrastructure.
Officials added that the state’s focus on green growth is creating long-term economic opportunities and driving India’s clean-energy transition.
