Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to begin implementing the AP Universal Health Policy from April. He said the state will soon expand the pilot project currently running in Chittoor district to all districts.
During a review meeting of the Health and Medical Department, Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need to deliver healthcare services to citizens of all age groups. He said the Sanjeevani project should provide medical support from infants to senior citizens. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of building a strong preventive healthcare system.
Naidu said the government is designing the project to digitise public health records. He noted that digital records will improve access to treatment and help doctors easily track patient history. He added that the initiative will also focus on raising public health awareness.
The Chief Minister directed officials to launch a nutrition app for citizens. He said the app should help people understand healthy food habits and nutrition needs.
Chandrababu Naidu also reiterated his vision of setting up one super speciality hospital in every Assembly constituency. He asked officials to prepare proposals quickly and forward them to the central government for approval.
During the meeting, Health Minister Satya Kumar and department officials discussed the appointment of multipurpose male health assistants. They informed that 730 posts are available and that the Supreme Court has already delivered a verdict on the issue. Following the discussion, the Chief Minister directed officials to appoint male MPHA staff without delay.
