The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati Centre, has forecast light to moderate rain in parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next three days.
Low-Pressure System Continues Over the Bay of Bengal
As of 8:30 AM on February 22, 2026, a low-pressure area remains active over the southwest Bay of Bengal. An associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
Initially, the system will move west-northwest. However, during the next 48 hours, it is likely to shift direction and move northeast over the Bay.
Meanwhile, a trough stretches from the low-pressure area to south-central Maharashtra. It passes across interior Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka at about 0.9 km above mean sea level.
In addition, wind patterns show variation across the state. Southwesterly winds blow over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. At the same time, southeasterly to easterly winds affect South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
