Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday, while light to moderate rainfall is expected in other districts, as per the AP SDMA weather report on Wednesday.
Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (AP SDMA) Managing Director (MD) Prakhar Jain revealed that the well-marked low-pressure area concentrated over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Tamil Nadu coast is moving in a northwesterly direction. He stated that it is likely to move towards the north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south coastal Andhra Pradesh coasts in the next 24 hours.
As per the AP SDMA weather report, widespread rains accompanied by thunderstorms are likely across the State for the next five days. Strong winds with speeds of 35–55 kmph are likely to blow along the coastal region. Prakhar Jain advised people to remain alert. Authorities have warned fishermen not to venture into the sea until Saturday. He also stated that one National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team and four State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are actively deployed in the affected districts to carry out emergency relief operations.
As of 6 pm on Wednesday, rainfall recorded was: 89.2 mm in Marripadu (Nellore district), 79 mm in Mogilicherla, 75 mm in Bhavadevarapalli (Krishna district), 62.2 mm in Umareddypalle (Prakasam district), and 61.5 mm in Duggirala (Guntur district).
