Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna said NTR left an indelible mark in both cinema and politics. Addressing the media later, he recalled his father’s remarkable journey and described him as a rare personality shaped by discipline, hard work, and dedication.
“To become a great leader, one needs strong determination and sacrifice. NTR possessed these qualities in abundance,” Balakrishna said. He added that NTR would live on as long as the sun and moon exist, due to his lasting impact on Telugu society.
A Pioneer Who Redefined Telugu Cinema
Balakrishna highlighted NTR’s contribution to the film industry, noting that he played roles no one else dared to attempt. Through powerful performances and deep character immersion, NTR set new standards in acting. His portrayals of mythological, historical, and social characters left a permanent imprint on Telugu cinema.
Moreover, Balakrishna said NTR used cinema as a platform to awaken Telugu pride and cultural identity, earning him the title of a true icon of the Telugu people.
A Leader Who Stood with the Marginalised
Turning to politics, Balakrishna said NTR revolutionised the political landscape by founding the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He recalled that NTR brought politics closer to ordinary citizens instead of keeping it limited to a select few.
Importantly, Balakrishna described NTR as a leader who understood the pain of hunger faced by the poor. Because of this empathy, NTR stood firmly with backward and weaker sections of society. He pointed out that several welfare schemes introduced by NTR later became models adopted across the country.
Visionary Policies That Transformed Andhra Pradesh
Balakrishna also spoke about development projects such as Telugu Ganga and Galeru–Nagari, which played a key role in improving water supply and livelihoods. He said these initiatives reflected NTR’s long-term vision and concern for public welfare.
According to Balakrishna, the TDP continues to move forward by drawing inspiration from NTR’s ideals and values.
‘Pride of the Telugu People’
Meanwhile, Nandamuri Ramakrishna described NTR as the heartbeat of Telugu people and the beloved son of Telugu culture. He said NTR took the glory of the Telugu race to the global stage through his work and leadership.
Overall, the tributes reflected deep respect for NTR’s enduring legacy as a cultural icon, visionary leader, and champion of the poor.
