A big tiger terrorised villages in East Godavari district for six days before forest officials finally caught it in Kurmapuram village, Rayavaram mandal. The tiger attacked livestock in Raghunathapuram and Rajanagaram, causing fear among residents.
During its roaming, the tiger moved from village to village, leaving people anxious and disrupting daily life. Forest officials warned residents to stay alert, especially at night, as the animal often approached human settlements.
A specialised rescue team arrived in Kurmapuram with a tranquilliser gun to capture the tiger safely. Initially, the tiger got scared and ran from an abandoned house into nearby fields, alarming villagers further. The team tracked the tiger carefully throughout the day to ensure safety for both the public and the animal.
Finally, in the evening, the rescue team shot the tranquilliser successfully and secured the tiger near Kotha Cheruvu. Villagers breathed a sigh of relief as the tiger had been causing daily panic. Forest officials then transported the tiger to Visakhapatnam for monitoring and rehabilitation.
The operation demonstrates the importance of swift wildlife intervention in rural areas. Authorities managed to protect both humans and wildlife while resolving conflicts caused by the tiger’s presence.
